Desenzano del Garda

Trough the A4 highway you will reach Desenzano in about 50 minutes then you can park your car here. It is not cheap but you can find place…I wish you!

What to do in Desenzano del Garda

Like all the Garda settlements, Desenzano too has origins since the Bronze Age. In the first centuries after Christ, the area became the residence of some Roman notables as evidenced by the villa identified in Desenzano in 1921 on the place where the ancient Via Emilia that connected Brescia to Verona passed. There are historic attractions to see:

Terme di Catullo - Sirmione

Sirmione is partly set on a peninsula that is stretched for about 4 km in the low Lake Garda and it is an important cultural and health centre. Sirmione is famous for the unique charm of its old town centre, with its narrow and irregular alleys, for the Thermal Baths of Catullus, for the churches “Santa Maria Maggiore” and “San Pietro” in Mavino, for the ruin of the Roman Villa of the poet Catullus, known also as “Grotta di Catullo”. Take with you the suitswim it could be useful for a relaxing afternoon: Sirmione terme!

Bardolino

Bardolino is one of the most important and known touristic destinations on Lake Garda. It is located at the east shore of the lake about 30 km form the provincial capital Verona.

While you reach the location you cannot miss this tasting! Bottura it is a stage that you should do. You can taste wine and olive oil and likely you could grab a souvenir.

Bardolino pier

Numerous events that attract many guests take place in Bardolino on Lake Garda all year long: the Carnival of “Bacchus and Ariadne”, the Aperitif Under the Stars during the first days of August, the Garda Festival with a wide range of summer games and the well-known party “Festa dell’Uva e del Vino” and a lot more. Check out the scheduled events here!

What about the night and where to sleep in Bardolino?

The night is really full of events in Bardolino but if you are looking for a disco with a beautiful locatione I suggest you Hollywood! It is possible to book for a dinner on swimming pool and it is an amazing location!

I have been in Camping Serenella. In addition to the usual possibilities of stay for a camping, this structure also has a building with very nice and comfortable classic rooms. The accommodation is located right between Bardolino and Garda which can be reached on foot.

Rovereto

Among museums, castles and markets: Rovereto is the ideal weekend destination but if we don’t have so much time we will stop at least to have a quick look and eat someting: Bar Christian is a good choice for a fast and inexpensive lunch.

Tenno on Garda Lake

If you wake up in the morning and you have time you should reach this place for a fantastic breakfast!

Limone sul garda

The heart of the old town is the little harbour, the Porto Vecchio (‘Old Port’). From here, narrow lanes lined with tourist shops wind along the shore and up the slopes behind. There are pleasant and picturesque waterfront terraces, and plenty of places to eat and drink while admiring lake views.

Vittoriale degli Italiani

All the informations you need are here

Surrounded by a large garden with views across the sparkling waters of the lake and the mountains beyond, the spectacular setting make the Vittoriale worth seeing for that alone. However, the beautiful surroundings are a complete contrast to D’Annunzio’s house and bizarre ambience.

Gargnano

Unfortunately you only have time for a coffee and you cannot visit other wonderful places like Salò, Moniga del Garda, lido Manerba and many others. This means you have to come back soon!

Lake Garda Holidays: a tour of the best Places

It is undoubtedly a place that deserves more time for its infinite beauty, especially in the details, views and colors. The lake bathes three provinces of Italy: Brescia, Verona and Trento. With a little more time you might think of a visit to these beautiful cities.
